Actions to carry out in your greenhouse
DAILY
- Check that the plants are healthy (deficiencies, diseases, crop pests)
- Check that the fish are healthy (behaviour, scale colour)
- Check irrigation for the vertical growing towers and pump operation
- Remove solid residues from the surface of the water in the fish tank (uneaten food, plant matter, algae)
WEEKLY
- Flush the submerged radial filter using the crank handle
- Check that the plants in the towers are not dripping onto each other
- Check myfoodhub and monitor the indicators (pH, temperature and humidity)
- Water the permaculture beds
- Irrigate sowings in the seed propagator
- Plant, prune and stake / trellis the plants
- Harvest fruit and vegetables
- Check the water level and adjust if needed (preferably with rainwater or reverse osmosis water)
- Carry out a strip test during cycling to check nitrate and nitrite levels
- Regulate temperature and humidity in summer (open/close the doors, deploy the shade cloth, install a mister)
- Fill the stove reservoir with pellets, empty the ash pan and clean the burner in winter
- Share your results with the Pioneers community
BI-MONTHLY to MONTHLY
- Fill the automatic fish feeder
- Flush the upper part of the irrigation system with a garden hose
- Add growing supplements according to the season (see Getting started in aquaponics and Getting started in bioponics)
- Carry out a strip test to check carbonate hardness KH
- Prepare sowings
EVERY 2 MONTHS
- Gently clean the probes with a microfibre cloth
- Clean the inside of the radial filter with a jet of water
EVERY YEAR
- Have the stove serviced by a professional
- Calibrate the pH probe using a buffer solution
- Clean the air extractor grille
- Check the tightness of all the greenhouse nuts
- Check the condition of the greenhouse anchors
- Clean the greenhouse's internal and external gutters
- Top up the demineralised water in first-generation solar batteries
- Remove the roof vent actuators before winter and put them back in spring
- Clean the inside of the pump and the air pumps / aerators
- Check the condition of the foams in the radial filter and the operation of the UV lamp
