Temperature management
From April to September.
The greenhouse is designed to produce fruit and vegetables all year round. It is an optimal space for your plants to thrive in the different production modules.
From the end of winter, temperatures become milder. If you have a pellet stove, you can switch it off as soon as the air temperature is around 7°C.
1. Fit the skylight struts
After the last frosts, make sure you reinstall the struts on each of your skylights.
- Position and screw in the strut
- Attach the retaining pin or support clip

Automatic openings thanks to the strutsThe skylights open automatically according to the outdoor temperatures. Thanks to the mechanical gas struts, the opening width increases progressively with the heat.
This way, the skylights ensure optimal ventilation of the greenhouse and help prevent overheating inside the greenhouse.
2. Install the insect screen doors
It is possible to add one or more insect screen doors to your greenhouse.
Purpose of the insect screen doorsInstalling insect screen doors will allow you to:
- Increase ventilation during very hot weather.
- Keep the greenhouse closed and prevent your cat/dog from getting inside.
Do not worry, the insect screens do not prevent pollinators from entering the greenhouse. They can still come in through the skylights to pollinate the flowers inside the greenhouse.

Installation of double insect screen doors in the sliding door rail.
3. Install a flower strip along the south side of the greenhouse
The south side of your greenhouse will be particularly exposed to the sun during summer. Temperatures can rise sharply and quickly exceed 30°C. To create natural shading, you can sow a flower strip along this side: directly in the ground or by using permaculture beds.
Choose plant species with a growth habit taller than 1m to shade the inside of the greenhouse. Here are suitable plant species:
- Sunflower, maize, wheat
- Beans, peas, broad beans
- Ornamental flowers
- Grasses
- Deciduous foliage plants (which lose their leaves in winter).
Installing a flower strip will have a double effect: in addition to providing shade, it will attract pollinators close to your greenhouse.
