Control algae
For a balanced and healthy system.
1. During the cycling period
A thin layer of algae on the sides of the tanks is normal and part of the ecosystem; however, uncontrolled algae growth can consume your nutrients and oxygen, and cause characteristic pH fluctuations.
2. How to limit algae growth
-
Cover the tanks: you can cover a large part of the tanks with wooden boards.
-
Shade the greenhouse: by limiting direct light on the tanks, you will limit algae. A shade cloth is therefore recommended.
-
Switch on the integrated UV lamp
-
Temporarily stop feeding the fish: algae cannot survive without nutrients.
-
Add iron chelate to the water: add iron to your system to supplement it and darken your water at the same time.
-
If algae are already present, also add this product OxyGen Vital.
3. Clear water, the ideal configuration for fish well-being
Algae need light to proliferate. Despite the shade cloth, low-angle light can activate algae photosynthesis.

The wooden boards will also protect the fish from intense heat.

Good visibility through the water, with the bottom visible.
